Five books about Soviet space program and first Russian cosmonauts.

Among the authors of the memory books are the first Soviet astronaut Yuri Gagarin (1934 –1968) and the second Gherman Titov (1935–2000). The books published and translated into Latvian just after their space flights.

The Soviet space program (Russian: Космическая программа СССР, Kosmicheskaya programma SSSR) was the national space program of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), active from the 1950s until the union's dissolution in 1991.

The Soviet space program was responsible for a number of major firsts in human spaceflight, including the first intercontinental ballistic missile (R-7), first satellite (Sputnik 1), first animal in Earth orbit (the dog Laika on Sputnik 2), first human in space and Earth orbit (Yuri Gagarin on Vostok 1), first woman in space and Earth orbit (ValentinaTereshkova on Vostok 6), first spacewalk (Alexei Leonov on Voskhod2), first Moon impact (Luna 2) etc.

Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin  (9 March 1934 – 27 March 1968) was a Russian pilot and cosmonaut who became the first human to journey into outer space, achieving a major milestone in the Space Race; his capsule, Vostok 1, completed one orbit of Earth on 12 April 1961. Gagarin became an international celebrity and was awarded many medals and titles, including Hero of the Soviet Union, his nation's highest honour.

Gherman Stepanovich Titov (Russian: Герман Степанович Титов; 11 September 1935 – 20 September 2000) was a Soviet cosmonaut who, on 6 August 1961 became the second human to orbit the Earth, aboard Vostok 2, preceded by Yuri Gagarin on Vostok 1.

One of the collection books A.Šternfelds, Mākslīgie pavadoņi (Artificial Earth satellites) givesa detailed information about Soviet Sputnik1,Sputnik2 and others, about the invention of satellites and their launch into orbit.

The books are ilustrated with black and white photos.
